The DX Engineering HEXXAGONAL beam is a kit. There are over 500 parts in the kit that must each be
handled according to a 32 page assembly manual for the beam to be completed. For example, the wires
must be cut, measured and attached to the spacers which also must be measured and cut. The
fiberglass spreader arms must be measured, marked and fixtures attached. See details of this work in
the DX Engineering manual that can be downloaded from their site.
The Plug and Play beams are fully assembled beams broken into modules for shipping but can be
re-assembled in a short evening or less. You can see the difference in the size of the assembly manuals.

Clamps, P clips for wires, measured, installed
Support Cords
Measured, cut, fixtures attached and bagged
Wires and insulated cords
Wires measured, cut, lugs crimped and soldered
Insulated cords measured, cut, fixtures attached, heat shrink installed
Both connected, coiled and bagged for each band
Center post
Painted
Terminals installed
RG213 coax cut and soldered to terminals inside post
Chassis SO 239 coax connector installed, connected via RG 213 to top
terminals inside post
Cap drilled, painted, anchor installed
Base plate
Flanges installed, U-bolts and pinning bolts installed

Here is all you have to do when you receive the K4KIO beam
Unpack modules, get a screwdriver, pliers, wrench 15 mins
Insert spreaders into baseplate, tighten all nuts 30 mins
Insert center post into baseplate, tighten set screws 5 mins
Install 8 support cords to spreaders and post 15 mins
Install wire sets to terminals and spreaders 60 mins
Minor adjustments of wire clamps for tension 30 mins
Total estimated time required < 3 Hrs
Unpack modules, get a screwdriver, pliers, wrench 15 mins

Insert center post into baseplate, tighten set screws 5 mins
Install 8 support cords to spreaders and post 15 mins
